Moving Mountains one Roadblock at a Time

Sometimes, we let the roadblocks get bigger than our goals. 6 years ago, when we moved to TN from NJ, I decided I wanted to start a blog. I have always loved to write, it would be a way to put some of the journey that was a bit out of the box on “paper” and perhaps, inspire someone else to jump when there were so many good reasons not to!

Well, that was 6 years ago and I am just getting started.

4 years ago I bought this domain name. I spent time on two well recognized platforms trying to sort it out. As an extremely tech challenged human, I thought I had taken a user friendly path that I could easily navigate.

4 years later, I am just getting started. Sometimes, we let the roadblocks get bigger than our goals.

2 years ago I bought a better “package” on a different well recognized platform, sat with a web designer and tried to get the site to a place where I didn’t need coding experience to just sit down and write! You may correctly assume that this software got me no closer than the others to just doing what I truly wanted to do.

Sometimes, we let the roadblocks get bigger than our goals.

Here is the kicker, I gave up and gave in. I made a conscious decision to allow the roadblocks to be too big, too difficult to move, too much time and trouble to sort out, so in the end…I didn’t want it badly enough. I wasn’t willing to fight through the dreaded error message and the feelings of frustration and inadequacy.

It was easier to keep that “I would love to write a blog” statement in a safe place instead of digging in and making it happen. It was also easier not to put myself out there, in the big cyber social world that leaves me open to the critics and judgement of others.

18 months ago, I took the first of many steps toward moving roadblocks and climbing the mountains of my dreams. I went back to school and became a Life Coach. I chased down something I really wanted, but was so far out of my comfort zone. I had some days of huge mind bending success and on other days I felt epic failure. I experienced LIFE, the good and the bad. I began a personal journey by simply deciding I was worth it.

Today, I am making another step in the direction of believing in myself and daring to dream. Writing a blog is a rather small step in the scope of life, but its significant for me as its been on my to do list for years. I can look back at my planners and see over and over again the GET BLOG UP in the column of ‘to do’.

What is on your To Do list that keeps getting pushed forward? What roadblocks are in the way that you can’t or won’t move? I suggest that there is a way forward if we want it badly enough. It all starts in your mind, deciding that failure is certain when we begin to grow and that you are worth it.

So today, write down what you really want. Maybe you don’t event know what your dream is. Maybe your dream, like mine, is so wrapped up in your family, that you don’t know what YOUR Dream is apart from them. Then list what are your roadblock from achieving all that you want. They are likely to look a lot like excuses. That may be hard to admit, but I have yet to work with a client who didn’t believe their reasons weren’t facts until we started digging in and doing the work.

When you are ready to really go after what you really want, you must have the mindset that will bring you out of the shadows. I didn’t say it would be easy, but I do know you are 100% capable, worthy and deserving of whatever you want.

Please share your dreams with me by replying below. I would love to cheer you on!

Well…I am also technologically challenged. I am just now seeing this blog post, along with four others. As you know, I, too, have the dream of being a coach. I also want to write a blog that records my journey from penniless (which is where I am now) to millionaire. But…I don’t know much about blogs, nor am I able (or willing?) to spend the money to learn how to create one. All this is ironic, because I’m aspiring to be a millionaire. Haha! I’m moving in the right direction. Just working on prioritizing my priorities.

Do not let the “I don’t know how” keep you stuck. That was the language I used for years and I assure you, it will not allow you to reach for your dreams. I am willing to learn, I will figure it out, I can do hard things will serve you so much better. You got this Christy, if I can do it, you can too!!!!
